The best British silent movie of all time!

London is holding its breath!

It crackles full of suspense and eroticism: Alfred Hitchcock became a star with THE LODGER. Having just returned from Germany and deeply impressed by the expressionist filmmaking there, he shot this thriller.

London is holding its breath as the unknown serial killer AVENGER repeatedly attacks blonde girls. A mysterious and attractive new tenant appears in Daisy's parents' house. There is something wrong with him, says Daisy's friend, a policeman.

At the time, the journal Bioscope wrote enthusiastically: “It is possible that this film is the finest British production ever made”
