Sturle Dagsland

Sturle Dagsland is a Norwegian artist and vocalist who moves at the intersection of experimental electronic music, art pop, industrial, avant-garde and noise rock. Together with his brother Sjur, he creates a peculiar sonic universe in which organic vocal expressions, electronic textures, drone surfaces and explosive rhythmic bursts merge into a constantly changing whole.

The duo's music defies traditional genre boundaries. A number can begin as fragile, atmospheric electronica and, in seconds, develop into a fierce and almost ritualistic sonic assault. Centrally stands Sturle Dagsland's remarkable voice, alternating between heartfelt melodies, wordless lamentations, ecstatic cries and deep, almost animalistic vocal experiments.

With concerts at festivals and venues worldwide, from Shanghai to New York, the brothers have built a reputation as one of the North's most boundary-seeking liveacts. Their uncompromising approach to sound and performance has led reviewers to describe the music as both beautiful, scary, and impossible to categorize. Sturle Dagsland draws as much inspiration from experimental art music and electronic avant-garde as from the immediacy of pop and the physical energy of rock. The result is an intense concert experience in which the hypnotic, the unpredictable and the deeply emotional are constantly refracted against each other.
