The Museum of Modern Art invites you to creative workshops for adults that accompany the exhibition “Edward Dwurnik. Pride and shame.”
Edward Dwurnik's painting — what is it actually associated with? With a work that perfectly met the general taste and flooded the market with bright colors and a multitude of shapes? Or with art that boldly engaged socially and focused on the realities of the times of the People's Republic? We will start our workshop with a look at several diverse paintings that the artist has painted since the 70s of the last century.
Together we will consider what artistic success really is and how it manifests itself. We will talk about how diverse career paths can be, and how in this broad context we can think about the work of Edward Dwurnik himself.
In the workshop part we will create our own compositions symbolizing success. We will reflect on the taste of the imaginary recipient, and then build a suitable image for him. At the same time, we will examine whether the carrier of value must be exclusively the work, or whether it is enough to narrate it alone. We will start with a sketch, which we will fill with oil pastels, and we will be happy to discover their enormous painting possibilities.
