Beethoven’s anguished ‘Serioso’ opens a programme that bridges centuries: Dobrinka Tabakova’s vivid contemporary writing and a brand-new suite by the quartet’s violist, Beatrice Slocumbe, precede Mendelssohn’s turbulent, deeply personal A minor Quartet. A vibrant calling-card from a young ensemble already earning praise for its concentrated, communicative energy.
This concert is generously supported by the Idlewild Trust.
