“Supernova” is a ballet diptych realized by prominent figures of contemporary choreography Sharon Eyal and Gaia Behar and Jacek Przybylowicz, created for the Łódź ballet troupe.
Asking AI what a supernova is, we get the perverse answer that it is not the birth of a new star, but above all it is a process that begins with the dying structure of the planet giving rise to a new being.
Is this really hard to imagine from an earthly perspective. But the time in which we live bears the marks of twilight in a broader sense of the word. The end of the old pacts and social agreements, the end of the status quo, in which we found relative historical security.
“Echoes” balances between reality and the past, which is emphasized by Adam Walicki's music combining new sounds with sounds of the past, which are choreographically combined by Jacek Przyowicz.
“Bedroom Folk” by Sharon Eyal and Gaia Behara, filling the second part of the evening is, in a dramatic context, an emanation of the following society. Or maybe a retro-future vision of supercivilization. We are not looking for unambiguous answers to these questions, we leave them open to the audience of “Supernova”.
