Susan Sontag

“Susan Sontag” is an author's fantasy about the life and work of a famous icon of American culture. This is a potential story of one secret and its consequences. It is a story about the rift between repressed privacy and the untarnished image of a committed activist, about the need for openness and about the desire for autonomy, about hidden relationships and about disappointed friends dying of AIDS. What is it like to see more, feel more strongly, and constantly look for answers to uncomfortable questions?

“Susan Sontag” is a theatrical photostory — an album of photographs brought to life before our eyes by an acting reconstruction group. What fantasies does the collection of black and white photographs from theatrical rehearsals, inspired by Sontag's images, hide?

This show will pull you into a whirlwind of personal dilemmas and emotional tensions. It is a pulsating confrontation with what is deepest and most difficult to grasp in us.

In the program of the performance we publish the conversation of Katarzyna Niedurna with the creators of the play - Agnieszka Jakimiak and Mateusz Atman.
