Born in Inglewood, California as Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, singer Swae Lee first gained wide acclaim as the younger, more melodic half of Southern hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. Swae's versatile music and sound, undeniably and wholly unique, are due to his upbringing in Texas, which became a turning point in his musical beginnings at about age 11.

In addition to school and family responsibilities, Swae experimented with production, recording software, and learned sound mixing. He has also made a name for himself outside of his duet activities, proving that he is a force to be reckoned with both in and outside the hip-hop world. Tracks such as French Montana's diamond-coated “Unforgettable” highlight his vocal skills, and his impressive list of author credits includes Beyoncé's “Formation”, among others. However, Swae's melodic repertoire is not limited exclusively to the sphere of R&B and hip-hop, his singing can take the form of a ballad, as well as blend perfectly into a more electronic background, making him in many ways a complex Twin.

Swae's influence on the music industry is also highlighted by his record-breaking achievements, including the historic success of “Sunflower”, which became the first song ever to be awarded a double diamond RIAA certification. This iconic Grammy-nominated track remains one of the biggest streaming record holders in history. In addition to “Sunflower”, Swae's contributions to hits such as Travis Scott's “Sicko Mode” have also earned him diamond certifications, further cementing his position as a dominant force in contemporary music.

Above all, however, Swae emphasizes that music is supposed to make you feel good, being the personification and advocate of a positive attitude towards life. Swae's goals for his work are universal and far-reaching: his audience is to be everyone, from doctors and lawyers, to children and people “living any lifestyle,” as he puts it — yet still unique in the face of what is popular and produced today.
