Fireflies — a team of brutal experiences in March at the Stodoła Club!
On March 11, 2027, the Polish capital will perform (God willing) a band known once under the name of Święliki. Most likely, it will be the only performance in Warsaw this year, or perhaps the only one at all. Because it is not so easy to accumulate what has dispersed in space-time. After all, it is not known whether there will be a band or just a collective (or the so-called project). Or maybe just four people of the same sex and ugly, loosely bound by a thin and rough string of memories? And it is not known whether it will be a concert or a performance, maybe just an implosive pantomime against the background of a slight noise. Or maybe, and even without the hustle and bustle, an eloquent silence against the background of anemic flashing colored lights? I don't know what it will be. But we know a little about the name of what may not happen: FIREFLIES PHANTOM QUARTETT, JUVENILE OLDSCHOOL VINTAGE, RAW OYSTER, CORPSE RESUSCITATION AND RECOVERY, OLD MUSHROOM ONLY MICRO/NANO PREAPOCALYPTIC TOUR. Concert tickets are now on sale!

ŚWIETLIKI - a (formerly) youth band with a verbal and musical profile. Founded by Marcin Święlicki and members of the WERTER UTRAT TROUPA team in 1992 in Krakow.

The idea that guided the foundation of the formation was to create an artistically attractive form of presentation of Mr. Martin's poems, whose dark beauty and fervour went far beyond the traditionally recognized way of communicating between the poet and the recipient. The creation of a “new”, song-like form, where the music is not a sexless, bland underlay for impassioned recitation, but captures or counterpoints the meanings and tensions of the poems, was the artistic goal of the nascent band.

The future showed that music of, generally speaking, the so-called alternative or post-rock genre, pleasant to the heart of the band members, perfectly harmonizes with the poems of Mr. Święlicki. He does not haggle, but emphasizes the many virtues of these poems. Mr. Marcin turned out to be a full-blooded frontman-parlandist (from parlando), an expressive master of melodeclamation, and the stage intensity of his message soon passed into legend. The band debuted spectacularly at the last edition of the spoken magazine “Na Głos” in 1992.

In a noble interior, the band performed four songs for a noble audience, among which were Nobel laureates: the then (Miłosz Czesław) and the future (Szymborska Wisława). And many artists of lesser rank and a somewhat snobbish Krakow audience. For some, this performance bore the marks of scandal and provocation, for others (Ch. Miłosz) was a well-known phenomenon, with a long and worldwide tradition. Since their debut, however, the band has performed mainly for an audience with a wider social cross-section, including hard-working middle and lower class representatives, academics, college and high school youth, pensioners, retirees, successful people as well as those who have an uphill life. And for that, both sexes.

The band has released six full-length albums to date. The Concentration Garden (1995), Cacy cacy Fleischmaschine (1996), Pearls Before Pigs (1999), Bad Bears (2001), Las putas melancolicas (2005) and Sromota (2013). The debut album has become for many listeners a so-called cult work. In fact, it contains many songs that have already become evergreens (e.g., Elephant, Insquatting, Pogo, Spitting, Before the Election, Crickets).

Nevertheless, it should be recalled that the first album met with a distrustful attitude in critical circles and at first it was thrown into the compartments entitled: interesting curiosity, interesting hybrid, artistic quirk, happening, disabled freak, woman with a beard etc. Only the second album Cacy cacy Fleischmaschin, darker and more mature in sound (Posthumous Correspondence, Grzyb Robak) ensured the Święliki full citizenship on the Polish music scene.

And Mr. Martin's parlandz began to be treated on a par with more common ways of vocal expression. The album Perła pre pig was the result of a momentary fascination with the so-called harder playing (Brejkam sve rule, Jonasz) and at the same time a testimony to the crisis of the rock idiom as a metaphor for hard physical work. It also had an interesting cover. Bad bears, on the other hand, where Katarzyna Nosowska made a guest appearance, is a return to the roots. Less guitar jazz, less song structures, more experimentation (title song). The album, appreciated by connoisseurs, made a smaller impression on the general public.

The presence of the big screen star, Mr. Bogusław Linda as a full-fledged vocalist on the album Las putas melancolicas aroused lively interest from the audience and the media. Mr. Bogusław, contrary to the predictions of unkind people, turned out to be the ideal vocal partner of Mr. Marcin, perfectly fit into the convention and beautifully proclaimed himself. Coming from the album Filandia, a lyrical song with an intimate apocalyptic and universal pronunciation is probably the most popular song of Święlików. Plus with a very successful music video/video featuring Linda.

After Las putas... Mr. Bogusław regained his social respect, strung by persistent participation in projects with low genre weight, and the band fell into a state of artistic hibernation lasting 8 years.

After minor personal mishaps, many pleasant and unpleasant adventures, after a period of distraction and dislocation, Święliki came out of the mental hawk and in 2013 they released the album Sromota. A three-disc, beautifully recorded and released album. Sound and orchestral momentum, formal richness, weighty content harmoniously combined with playfulness and almost three hours of music, make (according to some) Sromota opus magnum of the band. The song O. from this album reached number 4 on the Troika chart.

In 2020, the Fryderyk award-winning album “Wake Me Up Before You Fuck Me” was released.
On September 27, 2024, a mini-album entitled “Demens Avis In Excelsis” was released.
