The symposium “Becoming Visible. Josef Kaiser and the Architectures of the GDR” in cooperation with the Berlin State Monuments Office and the Leibniz Institute for Spatial Social Research (IRS) deepens the exhibition “Josef Kaiser. Building for the GDR”. It sheds light on Kaiser's work in architectural history and cultural policy, asks about the relationship between collective planning structures and artistic aspirations, and examines how GDR architecture has been perceived and remembered since 1989.
The detailed program will follow in autumn.
