Lectures and events within the framework of the symposium are conducted in English.
The TEKHNÉ — Be Aware of Sound series is a project implemented in cooperation between CTM Festival (Germany), GMEA (France), OUT.RA (Portugal), Q-O2 (Belgium), Skaņu mežs (Latvia) and TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin, with the support of the Creative Europe program of the European Union and the City of Szczecin. Cooperation: Academy of Art in Szczecin.
The project has been implemented since 2023.
The symposium in Szczecin will be a meeting of people related to the art of sound and research on sound and music. Together we will summarize the TEKHNÉ — Be Aware of Sound project, we will look at its most important results and the experiences gained during its implementation. The meeting will create a space for the exchange of knowledge and practices, presentation of the results of project activities and discussion of the directions of development of sound, music and technology.
The symposium aims to gather the various threads of the project and to start a reflection on its possible continuations — artistic, curatorial and methodological. We will reflect on how TEKHNÉ — Be Aware of Sound resonates with different currents of humanities and artistic practices. The central point of the program will be the premiere of a collective publication summarizing the project. The themes raised during the Symposium will also continue during the Szczecin edition of this year's Idealistic festival, which will start on October 23 at TRAFO.
TEKHNÉ — Be Aware of Sound is a European art and research project dedicated to the creative potential of technology in music and sound art. The project focuses on finding more critical, creative and autonomous ways of using technology, strengthening the agency of people involved in the arts and technology users in the process of experimentation and creation.
Residencies and production of works of art, workshops, performances, exhibitions, meetings, publications and radio broadcasts made up a program in which artistic practice met research, education and critical reflection. TEKHNÉ encourages experimentation with sound and technology, while at the same time raising questions about how technological tools are created, how they are used, understood and accessed.
