Description of the play Crazy Scissors: Antoni Wzięta is a hairdresser, who runs his salon in Krakow, where a famous (though disliked by the hairdresser) pianist lives. One day, a woman is murdered, and an investigator and his imprudent assistant enter the barbershop. The quiet life of a hairdresser hangs on the proverbial hair. An investigation begins, in which each of the spectators is a witness, and the conclusion of the investigation depends on what the witnesses testify... The actors, with the help of the spectators, recreate the course of the action, which can end in several ways.
Crazy Scissors has been watched by more than 13.5 million people around the world. The play was named Best Comedy of the Year seven times by the Boston Globe and the title of “Best Play of the Year” by both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Philadelphia Enquirer. The show also received the Raven Award from the Mystery Writers of America and was played in the Comedy Hall of Fame, being the first show ever to receive this distinction. It was also listed in the Guinness World Book of Records for the longest-lasting performance in the repertoire, which is not a musical. In Poland Crazy Scissors premiered in 1999 at Teatr Powszechny in Łódź. Since then, it has been staged in fourteen Polish theatres, including seven times directed by Marcin Sławiński.
