The art of communication, or what we need difficult texts for | Lecture with workshops

Have you ever read a text about art (or an official letter) and feel that you do not understand anything about it? The language with which we try to describe the world is becoming more and more convoluted and the words confusing. We get bogged down in them instead of using to form relationships and understand each other. Why is this happening?

Wojciech Gorczyca suggests looking for answers in our attitude to uncertainty. Our brains are evolutionarily wired to look out for threats, and uncertainty can be a huge burden for us. We often do everything we can to abruptly cut out “no” from the word “uncertainty” — after all, certainty gives us a sense of control and comfort.

During the meeting, you will not learn “precise messaging techniques”. Rather, communication will be a common, living process of reconciliation. Together, we will also consider why we need “difficult texts”, which we face at exhibitions, and how communication can foster trust and a sense of security.
