The series will be opened by Karolina Greś-Dziakowska, who will introduce the silhouettes of Polish and foreign artists of naive art.

Naive art (primitive, self-fertile, intuitive) is the work of artists without academic education. It is characterized by a simplified perspective, intense colors, sincerity and an extremely individual, often fantastic view of the world. Among the most important artists of the current, it is worth mentioning three world artists: Grandma Moses, Séraphine de Senlis and Maria Prymachenko. Polish naive art is represented by, among others, Maria Korsak, author of idyllic landscapes of Warsaw, Halina Walicka, who paints lyrical, unrealistic scenes, and Katarzyna Gawłowa, nicknamed “Nikifor in skirt”, known for its intensely colorful religious and rural scenes. Their work shows that artistic sensitivity does not require academic education, the main thing is imagination, sincerity and their own view of the world.

Meet the host:

Karolina Greś-Dziakowska - art historian, lecturer, popularizer of art. Creator of the brand JASNY OBRAZ. Certified Coach. Manager of artistic projects at the Hestia Journey Artistic Foundation. Expert of the Institute of Educational Research.

About the cycle:

This time we will take a closer look at the biographies and works of selected artists. We will try to look at their works through the prism of life, personality, experiences and times in which they created. We will talk about their inspirations, artistic choices, ambitions and controversies, as well as works that have permanently entered the history of art. We will be interested not only in the work itself, but also in the stories behind its creation and the impact that individuals have had on culture.

Meetings are dedicated to adults.
