“The Red Tent — Bleeding Exercises project took its name from the centuries-old concept of the red tent, sometimes called the moon tent, which was an isolated all-female space where women would experience menstruation together. In the indigenous cultures of various corners of the world, the practices of the red tent were different. Sometimes they were associated with dance and movement, sometimes more static, often mystical and spiritual.

In preparing the Red Tent — Bleeding Exercises, I wanted to create a safe space for menstrual stories, whatever they may be. They all sounded and were accepted. There were those funny and terrible, painful and light, they were sad and cheerful. Some spoken for the first time in their lives, in a somewhat embarrassed voice. Some told only to me, after the meeting, because it was more comfortable.”
We invite you to a meeting with Iza Moczarna-Pasiek — author of the project and the book, which is its result. The book “Project Red Tent — Exercises from Bleeding” can be downloaded free of charge here.
