About the event

We invite you to a workshop with Zuza Tokarska, during which we will combine screen printing, working with fabrics from the second circulation and creating a pillow filled with buckwheat husk and lavender. It will be creative, practical and in the spirit of giving old materials completely new functions.

Each person will receive a pre-prepared pillowcase made of recycled materials — including bright and patterned, fairy-tale bedding reminiscent of the times of the People's Republic of Poland. During the meeting, we will learn the basics of screen printing, choose patterns, and then make prints on the outer covers with our own hands. The next stage will be the preparation of the interior of the pillow: we weigh the right amount of buckwheat husk, combine it with lavender and independently fill the finished inner cover. During the workshop we will not sew — all textile elements will be prepared in advance.

The result of the meeting will be a hand-printed and filled pillow, which you will take home with you. At the same time, the workshop will be an opportunity to learn the technique of screen printing and to see how materials that already have their history can be reused and turned into utilitarian objects.

Host: Zuza Tokarska/From the lining.

Zuza Tokarska is a graduate of graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, a graphic designer and illustrator working in silk-screen printing and the creator of the Od podszewki project. In her work, she mainly uses textiles from the second circulation — used clothes, old sheets and characteristic bedding, which she transforms with her mother into new utilitarian objects, and then decorates with her own illustrations made using the screen printing method. She also runs workshops for children and adults, where she shares her experience with printing and fabric reuse.

It is not necessary to have experience in screen printing or sewing - all you need is curiosity and a desire to work with your own hands.
