Simon Mika — Agma

Agma is an exciting and critically acclaimed project by Szymon Mika — one of the most distinguished guitarists in Europe, known for his music that escapes genre boundaries and distinctive sound.

The album Agma, released in April 2025, met with enthusiastic reception from critics and audiences. The band presented material from this album at concerts and festivals in Poland and Europe, consistently building international recognition of the project. In 2026, the album was honored with the prestigious Fryderyk Award in the category Album of the Year — Jazz, confirming its exceptional artistic value and strong position on the contemporary music scene. This distinction, awarded by the Polish music community, appreciated the originality, depth and exploratory nature of the sound of the album, as well as highlighted the unique musical language that Szymon Mika has consistently developed over the years. The musician was also nominated in the Composer of the Year category, which further highlights his role not only as an outstanding instrumentalist, but also as a conscious creator of contemporary jazz.

The Agma project brings together musicians from different cultural and artistic backgrounds. The line-up includes Song Yi Jeon — a unique South Korean singer who first met Szymon Mika at the renowned jazz education center Jazzcampus in Basel. The ensemble is also composed of: Oskar Török — Slovak trumpeter with a subtle, expressive sound, Andrzej Święs — one of the most outstanding Polish double bass players, and Péter Somos — a Hungarian drummer active on the Berlin music scene.

Agma is not only a musical project, but also a symbol of international cooperation and artistic synergy. This music is characterized by depth of emotion, passion and creativity.
