Szymon Mika — AGMA — 26th Jazz From New Festival 2026

Szymon Mika — AGMA is an international quintet of guitarist and composer Szymon Mika, built around original music combining contemporary jazz, melodiousness, space and free improvisation. The project brings together musicians from Poland, South Korea, Slovakia and Hungary, and the unusual combination of electric guitar, voice and trumpet gives the music a characteristic, open sound.

The project is associated with the album “Agma”, released on April 24, 2025. All compositions on the album were written by Szymon Mika. The material was recorded by the same five-member line-up that will perform at JAZZ Od Nowa Festival: Song Yi Jeon, Oskar Török, Andrzej Święs and Péter Somos. The album includes nine tracks and nearly an hour of music.

Szymon Mika belongs to the esteemed guitarists of the younger generation of Polish jazz. In his music, he combines inspirations from Polish folklore, experimental music, groove jazz and free improvisation. He is the Grand Prix winner of the Jarek Śmietana International Jazz Guitar Competition and the title of Hope of the Year by “Jazz Forum” magazine, and in 2022 he was voted the Guitarist of the Year in the Jazz Top survey.

On the stage of the 26th JAZZ Od Nowa Festival the band will perform on October 16, 2026 at 20:00 at ACKiS “Od Nowa” in Toruń. The concert is part of the autumn tour of the AGMA project.
