The third and last day at the House of World Cultures (HKW) turns our attention to the outside world, to the world that science helps us understand. Throughout the program, science becomes a way of seeing. Look through a telescope and rethink our place in the universe; get closer to the tiny beings in front of your door and discover a world that you have carelessly passed by so far; travel back in time with the makers of the podcast “Stories from History” and discover how it continues to shape our present. At every corner, science reveals the hidden ways in which it shapes our world.
Here, researchers from Berlin and beyond share not only their findings, but also the stories behind them: the moments of doubt or failure, the questions that drive their work, and what makes them so passionate about discoveries.
This day is for anyone who has ever looked at the world and asked themselves, “Why? “: aspiring researchers, everyday amazement, children full of questions. Expect an insight into the many ways in which science helps us see. For everyone who is already working in or at the interface with science, the day offers the opportunity to share the contagious amazement with others.
