Restoration in dialogue: Restoration is a fascinating but often hidden professional field in museums. What is received how and who decides on it? The exhibition at the Humboldt Forum highlights the various aspects of this important work. Two heraldic posts from the northwest coast of Canada, an elaborate lacquer cabinet from the Qing Dynasty, a ceremonial pipe from Omaha (Umošho) from Nebraska, and a Mongolian shrine are presented. These four exhibits and a brochure with in-depth information provide exciting insights into questions and methods of restoration.
On the European Day of Action on Restoration, the curators will give an insight into three restoration projects and tour the workshops in the Humboldt Forum.
