About the lectureTang forms vast underwater forests that are essential for marine life and for the climate. Research shows that seaweed can also play an important role in solving the challenges of the future in health, food, climate and environment.
Seaweeds come in many shapes and colors along the world's coasts and are as important to ocean ecosystems as forests are to life on land. Seaweeds provide food and hiding places for many marine species, absorb nutrients and CO2, produce oxygen and help counteract ocean acidification.
Seaweed has been used for millennia as food, feed and fertilizer. Today seaweed is often cited as part of the solution to climate crisis, food crisis and biodiversity loss — but what can seaweed actually do?
Come and hear what seaweed and algae are, how they are grown and how they can contribute to sustainable solutions for climate, biodiversity and food.
