“Fiddler on the Roof” is the story of the poor Jewish milkman Tevja. His greatest concern is to marry his daughters well and thus provide them with a better life than was his. Therefore, together with the matchmaker, she tries to find suitable brides for her daughters. But the daughters will go against tradition and want to marry out of love. The action takes place in Anatevka, a small town in Russian Ukraine, at the beginning of the 20th century, during the pogroms. Tevje and his loved ones must finally leave their homes and set out to face an uncertain future.
The story is loosely based on the novel “The Tevji of the Milkmaid” by the Jewish writer Sholem Aleichem. The musical, in addition to the unusually wise and heart-touching story, was also made famous by famous songs such as “Tradition”, “If I Were Rich” and others.
A joint project on the occasion of the 70th jubilee season of the Polish Stage and the 75th jubilee season of the Czech Theatre Cieszyński Theatre. The legendary musical, which premiered in New York in 1964, received many awards. It speaks of the power of tradition, love, family and the need for tolerance, and it is still relevant today.
So we are waiting for you and we wish you a lot of fun!
