Amoroso

About the event

Venue: HAU1

What does love mean? How sincerely do we love? And what are we willing to sacrifice for love? “Amoroso” by the award-winning Polish Teatr Klucz is an intimate and haunting performance about love in its various forms.

“Make an effort therefore to turn your heart away from love for visible things and turn to the invisible” — this 14th century quote from the spiritual writer Thomas von Kempen forms the starting point of “Amoroso.” The work is dedicated to the many facets of love: happy and fulfilled encounters as well as loss, abandonment and longing. Poetic, dreamlike and leisurely, the production combines dance, improvisation and language to create a complex game about the visible and invisible of love. After a successful tour through Poland and several awards, “Amoroso” can now be seen in Germany for the first time.

Teatr Klucz is one of the few theatre ensembles in Poland that consists of artists with disabilities. The group has been working as a permanent ensemble at the Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań since 2016. Press:

“Teatr Klucz is a phenomenon. The Poznań group, which has been led by choreographer and dancer Janusz Orlik for several seasons, has become one of the most interesting phenomena in Polish theatre.” (Dominik Gac, Polish theatre critic)
