We invite you to a theatrical performance as part of the Teatr Polska program. On October 15, 2026 in BCKih Wahadło the play “Niżyńska piano forte” will be presented

“NIŻYŃSKA piano forte” by Sztuki Nowa is an intimate choreographic performance inspired by the biography and work of Bronisława Niżyńska — one of the most important figures of the 20th century avant-garde in dance.

The starting point for the performance was the turning points of her life. The personal crisis and the need for full artistic expression became the impetus for the development of one's own subjectivity and choreographic language. In the play, Niżyńska's biography is transformed not into a narrative form, but into a structure of movement, rhythm and tensions that build the drama of the play.

The play takes a dialogue with “Les noces” (1923) — Niżyńska's groundbreaking choreographic work to the music of Igor Stravinsky, often described as protofeminist. Daniela Komędera — choreographer and performer — constructs a performative portrait of the artist, exploring the relationship between body, rhythm and structure. The sound layer of the performance is co-created live by Katarzyna Piszek (Kasai), materializing music and vocals as equivalent dramatic elements. The dialogue of movement and sound allows us to observe the process of voice recovery — symbolically understood as an act of maturation for emancipation.
