About the event

Lost Music: Secrets of India — an interactive show and workshop for children at KOK Can you hear the smell of Indian spices, paint a sound and dance the story without using a single word?

The Kościański Cultural Center invites all young explorers and their parents to a unique event that breaks the traditional barriers between the stage and the audience. Before us is “Lost Music: Secrets of India” - a unique combination of interactive theater performance and dynamic workshops, created for children from 3 to 8 years old.

This is the perfect option to spend an emotional Sunday afternoon with the whole family.

Educational spectacle for children — rescue mission in the heart of India Once upon a time, a long time ago, far away in India, something unheard of happened. The music suddenly disappeared, and the musicians fell into a deep sleep. Who will help them wake up and find the hidden sounds? KOK invites small spectators on an adventurous rescue mission. This show is an interactive musical story of a thousand deities, aromatic spices and beautiful, colorful saris. Three artists will invite children to take an active part in the plot. Together we will solve riddles, perform rhythmic and dance tasks to gradually awaken unusual instruments to life: mesmerizing sitar and talkative tabla drums.

Music and movement workshops and Indian culture for the little ones Get ready for lots of movement, traditional singing, Hindu dancing and most of all - great fun together. In this project, the rules of the game are completely different than in the classic cinema or theater. Children not only watch a fairy tale, but become its main characters. The event combines elements of theatre, intercultural education and sensory activities. The design of the entire program has been precisely adapted to the ability to focus attention and the developmental needs of preschool and early school children.

During the workshop, children will embark on a journey full of sounds and movement to India. They will learn about the tabla, one of India's most important percussion instruments, and discover that rhythm can not only be played, but also pronounced. Participants will learn basic rhythmic syllables such as “dha”, “tin”, “ta” or “na”, with which Indian musicians memorize and transmit rhythms. Through voice games, repetition of rhythmic phrases and joint arrangement of short sequences, children will create their own “speaking orchestra”.

In the second part, the rhythms will be combined with the sounds of the sitar and simple steps and gestures inspired by Indian dance. Children will see how voice, music and movement can tell a story together.

Workshops develop a sense of rhythm, coordination, memory, concentration and the ability to cooperate in a group. Through active participation, the little ones develop their motor coordination, musical sensitivity and openness to other cultures and traditions of the world.

The duration of the workshop is approx. 30- 45 min.
