Shot by veteran director Alain Cavalier (Thérèse, Pater), Thanks for Coming, which premiered at the 2026 Directors Fortnight in Cannes, invites audiences into the filmmaker’s private world, where everyday encounters and filmic reflections become occasions for celebration.
Moving effortlessly between personal diary, documentary and philosophical reflection, the film offers a deeply personal exploration of time, creativity and the inevitability of death, affirming the camera as both a witness to life and a means of preserving its most ephemeral moments. Thanks for Coming celebrates the 95-year-young director Alain Cavalier as someone whose sense of curiosity and delight remains wonderfully intact.
