The Banshees of Inisher

Golden Globe-winning comedy drama about Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) living on a small Irish island in the 1920s. They have been friends all their lives when Colm suddenly announces that he no longer wants to speak to Pádraic. He will spend the rest of his life on the art and violin playing and no longer waste time on his friend's sweet, but slightly boring stories.

Pádraic can neither understand nor accept the breakup. Colm therefore issues a bizarre ultimatum: every time Pádraic speaks to him, he will cut off one of his own fingers.

'The Banshees of Inisherin' is at once a pitch-black comedy and painful drama about loneliness, friendship and the human need to belong. The film examines how violent a seemingly simple breakup can strike -- and how destructive it can become when the connection to another human is suddenly snapped.

Director Martin McDonagh is known for his unique blend of brutality and vulnerability. He is also behind and 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' and 'In Bruge' — also featuring Farrell and Gleeson in top form.
