The Derek Nash Acoustic Quartet

It’s a most welcome return to Dean Street for the Derek Nash Acoustic Quartet, following their much-appreciated concerts in recent years.

Performing original Derek Nash compositions and unique arrangements of jazz classics by this top-drawer jazz saxophone master, the Derek Nash Acoustic quartet features some of the best exponents of jazz in the UK - David Newton (multi-award-winning pianist), the legendary Dave Green (double bass) and Sebastiaan de Krom (drums) whose work together has encompassed Jamie Cullum and Michel Legrand.

A regular nominee for the British Jazz Awards, Derek Nash has been a member of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004, has led Sax Appeal for over 40 years and is a founder member of the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion. With the Wonder of Stevie show celebrating the music of Stevie Wonder and featuring vocalist Noel McCalla, he regularly sells out performances across the UK.

Their CD Joyriding won the British Jazz Award for Best CD.

Their album You’ve got to Dig It to Dig It, You Dig? received a 5-star review in 'The Guardian' - "To get some idea of the sheer breadth of his accomplishment as a saxophonist, composer and bandleader, you should hear this. From smooth cool to groovy funk, to ingeniously recast standards, to one quite gorgeous ballad, the music fizzes with energy, even at its most restrained"
