The Haunted Youth

Belgium has produced a new indie rock sensation: The Haunted Youth have delighted a steadily growing international audience since their debut and are now on tour with their latest album. In addition to a concert in Munich that has already been confirmed for November this year, there will be other shows in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne next spring.

Behind The Haunted Youth is Joachim Liebens, who writes and produces all songs himself. With the first single “Teen Rebel” (2021), he attracted attention in Belgium and beyond. In 2022, The Haunted Youth released an extraordinary debut album with “Dawn of the Freak” — celebrated by critics and fans alike, Liebens turns his teenage fears into dreamy dreampop sounds. Somewhere between MGMT, Slowdive and The Cure, The Haunted Youth created their very own sound full of nostalgia and emotionality.

With their long-awaited second album “Boys Cry Too”, The Haunted Youth took a bold step forward this year, both musically and narratively. Liebens himself describes the album as an “80s coming-of-age punk rock film.” Appropriately, the album is divided into two thematic halves: First, the songs tell of a young teenager who is full of anger, paranoia and aggression due to heartsickness. In the second half, the presentation changes, emotional walls fall and the vulnerable side of boys and men comes to the fore. This more self-confident, grown-up album was able to seamlessly build on the successes of the debut and immediately made it to first place in the Belgian album charts.

Over the years, The Haunted Youth have also earned an excellent reputation as a live band, which they impressively demonstrated on major festival stages such as Sziget, Pukkelpop or the Reeperbahn Festival. After their completely sold-out headline tour in April, the Belgians are coming to Munich in November for a club show and to Rolling Stone Beach on the Baltic Sea before playing further concerts in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne next year.
