Night of the Living Dead + Get Out + surprisefilm. Do you dare?

About the event

It's going to be late, it's going to be strange. And you want to come.

The zombie film 'Night of the Living Dead' marked a significant aesthetic and thematic evolution of the horror genre when it was released in 1968. Characteristically for director George A. Romero, evil is not to be found in the monstrous zombies but in man, in the rotten political system, in civilization itself, corrupted by capitalist commodity society. Made for a paltry $114,000, the film is a dark, effective doomsday tale. It set in earnest the wave of boundary-seeking indie horror in the 1970s, but its messages ring through clearly and ubiquitously even in today's world. Suddenly, and without explanation, the dead resurface as hungry zombies demanding human flesh. With one bite, the victim is turned into a zombie, and the infection spreads with epidemic haste...

Chris and Rose have reached the point in their relationship where Chris has to meet her parents, and the young couple visit Rose's parents at their estate in the countryside. From there, the narrative develops into first a thriller, then a shudder, and finally pure splatter. And at the same time, the issue of race is constantly lurking as a more serious matter under Jordan Peele's fanatical genre play. The result is alternately hilarious and endearingly creepy -- 'Get Out' is a nondescript chameleon of a movie that leaves the viewer with much to think about and discuss.
