Dundalk-based The Mary Wallopers gained popularity through viral live broadcasts during the pandemic. Today they are among the most important concert bands of the Irish scene, combining traditional ballads with noisy, anti-authoritarian punk. Their albums The Mary Wallopers (2022) and Irish Rock N Roll (2023) cemented their position as modern-day heirs to The Pogues and The Dubliners, while also attracting audiences beyond the traditional folk scene.
