The Ocean floods VEGA in post-metal well sound
After a long hibernation, the visionary German post-metal band invites you to a heavy and intense evening in Lille VEGA with their upcoming album Solaris.
The release is The Ocean's 12th studio album and is set for release in September through the label Pelagic Records. After experimenting with more electronic textures on the previous album, Holocene (2023), Solaris marks a return to the massive, organic and atmospheric post-metal universe that has made The Ocean musical guiding stars within the genre.
To cement this homecoming, the band has once again worked with Swedish star producer Jens Bogren, who also starred on the band's absolute most popular and iconic releases Pelagial and Phanerozoic I & II.
Where the Holocene ended with a bleak vision of an uninhabitable, gold and technologically ruined Earth, the new album Solaris takes over exactly where the Holocene left off. Lyrically, we follow a series of survivors who leave Earth on a celestial rescue ship in a desperate search for new unexplored territories. The album is a sharp, existential critique of human hubris and lust for power.
The album was recorded in the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin — the very same walls that formed the setting for David Bowie's Low and Heroes, Iggy Pop's Lust For Life and Depeche Mode's Construction Time Again.
Join us on an intergalactic post-metal journey in Little VEGA on December 18th. It will be a night when fiction and cracking social criticism merge into tone-heavy, glaring compositions.
