The Ugly One

“Does a flawless face exist?”

Lette has everything: a successful career, a loving wife, and a brilliant invention. Then he discovers the one thing nobody dared tell him — he’s hideous. A radical operation to “resculpture the entire facial area” leads to consequences far beyond what he, or anyone else, could possibly imagine.

Following the acclaimed run of An Ideal Husband, Broken Nose Theatre presents Marius von Mayenburg’s iconic black comedy The Ugly One, directed by Ramin Gray. Twenty years after premiering The Ugly One at the Royal Court, Gray returns to Mayenburg’s play in a world that has fulfilled its prophecy.

A razor-sharp satire about beauty, identity and self-love.
