The Vortex

Society London, 1924. Florence Lancaster (Olivia Williams) has everything: beauty, wealth, a rich husband and a young lover. But beneath the glittering surface, cracks are beginning to show.

When Florence’s son Nicky returns from Paris, he is determined to confront the truth. As Florence’s friends and family decamp for a weekend in the country, mother and son are forced into a reckoning that neither can escape.

The Vortex was the play that made Noël Coward’s name at just 24. Combining his whip-smart comedy with startling honesty, it scandalised audiences with its portrait of addiction, vanity, and emotional neglect.

Olivia Williams, star of The Crown, An Education, Rushmore, The Ghost Writer, leads Coward’s striking breakthrough drama, directed by multi-award-winning Jonathan Munby.
