[Things We Do for] LOVE is a stage version of English playwright Alan Ayckbourne's play Things We Do for Love, which has been hailed by English critics as “a masterpiece of tragic comedy and comic tragedy”.

Alan Ayckbourn himself says about her like this: “This is a play in which a passionate romance between two people destroys everything around them. In the name of love, you can do things that you would never do in the name of anything else; including betraying friends, lying, and cheating. It amazes me that some of the worst human behaviors are those who are in love.”

It takes place on three levels of a small Victorian townhouse, whose inhabitants, by a twist of fate, unite in surprising relationships that permanently change their lives.

Owner Barbara, occupying the ground floor; her childhood friend Nikki with fiancé Hamish, temporarily moving upstairs; and basement tenant Gilbert — are drawn into a powerful and often destructive whirlwind of passionate feelings from which it is not easy to leave whole and unscathed...
