HOUSE OF THE TIME SPIRITS

A Danish artist travels abroad to work wonders at a famous theatre. But what begins as a triumph develops into a scandal: She is thrown out of her own success story, accused of both nation smearing and employee violations.

Over three lightning stages, writer and performer Madame Nielsen (with herself in the lead role) will dramatize her hotly debated novel The House of Time into a live theatrical experiment.

Each night, the narrative transforms again and again, with each version becoming more radical, more unpredictable and more star-studded than the previous one. What might look like classic auto-fiction is blown up from the inside and turns into a multi-stage acting process, in which Madame Nielsen lets more and more of her accusers, judges, victims, and wrongdoers speak through some of Denmark's most virtuosic actors.

HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO GET RIGHT, BUT AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT REALLY HAPPENED: BETWEEN PEOPLE, IN A THEATER, AND IN A SPIRIT OF AGE WHERE EVERYONE IS FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT TO THE TRUTH. A tragedy about those who will do the right thing at all costs, and for that very reason keep repeating the wrong thing.
