Strange title... “That I know for sure”; but does anyone in this play really know anything for sure? Appearances indicate that this may be the case.
Here is a middle-aged marriage, four grown children. They lead an ordinary life, only the younger daughter still lives with her parents. But as it happens, something slowly begins to break apart at the seams. Someone decides to move away from their own family. Someone discovers that he does not fit into the skin of his gender. Someone can not stand their own helplessness after losing their job.
The strongest person in the family, the mother who always knows better, also fails to save the crumbling community. Because really none of us, even the most loving ones, know anything for sure. Such a life, this is how we are. Andrew Bovell is Australian, and he seems to have written a play about us too, here on the Vistula.
