Willy Loman is a self-made man! A few decades ago, he was one of the hardest workers in his industry. He was successful. Unfortunately, business isn't doing as well today and as invoices pile up, times are changing — just not Willy. He can't understand why hard work and faith in himself shouldn't be enough anymore. What's left for him is his dreams, pride and nostalgia.
Arthur Miller's “Death of a Salesman” shows the descent of a man who unconditionally believes in the “American Dream” and overlooks its brutality: all the lies we tell ourselves to justify our longing for power, for security and for recognition; all the people we sacrifice for our expectations; but also the moments in which community would have been possible despite everything.
Max Lindemann grew up in the Ruhr area and studied acting direction. After his debut with “Recordings from the Kellerloch,” he recently staged the world premiere of Sibylle Berg's “Es kann doch nur noch besser werden” and the staged reading of Michel Friedman's “Fremd” with Sibel Kekilli.
