Tomorrow We Move

Charlotte (Sylvie Testud) is a young writer who earns for the day and the road by writing erotic novels. The sighs and groans she conjures on paper, however, contrast with her own quite quiet life. When her father dies, everyday life is suddenly turned upside down. Her mother Catherine moves in with a piano, suitcases and furniture in tow. It quickly dawns on the two women that the apartment is too cramped for both of them and they will have to sell it. But before they can move on, they must make their way through an endless stream of interested buyers wading through the home, rummaging in the rooms and disrupting the fragile order even more. With 'Tomorrow We Move', Akerman returned to the slapstick humor she loved so much. She bluntly described herself as a sort of Chaplin character who was always clumsy and on the verge of tripping, and she referred to Sylvie Testud's Charlotte as her alter ego.
