Set before his rise to fame, we meet a young Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa) who is still an insecure yet cocky Vassar student whose literary ambitions falter.
In Provincetown, he lands a job at a humble seafood restaurant under the guidance of a man simply known as Chef (Antonio Banderas), where his passion for cooking, and his fate, begins to take shape.
Adapting the opening chapters of Anthony Bourdain’s formative Kitchen Confidential, the film is a compelling study of self-discovery. After BlackBerry and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, director Matt Johnson changes recipe with an intimate character study, partnered with The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa.
