SYNOD CORPSE

Vatican. Pope John XXIV dies under unclear circumstances. A group of ecclesiastical dignitaries descend on Rome to choose his successor. The scepter of Christ, however, must rest in the hands of the right man, whose name is known only to the five most influential cardinals. Unfortunately, the first days of the pontificate of Pius XIII clearly prove that they made the biggest mistake of their lives... The trial begins, in which the late Pontifex becomes the main actor...

Sources: In 897, Pope Stephen VII ordered the exhumation of the corpse of his predecessor Formosus and accused him of violating canon law. The remains were dressed in pontifical robes and for three days and nights were tried during the Roman Synod, which went down in history as the “Synod of the Corpses”. On the night of September 28-29, 1978, Pope John Paul I died under unexplained circumstances. Time of death unknown. Cause unknown. He was the first pope in more than a century to die alone. There are many indications that somewhere between four and five in the morning the Holy Father was murdered. This thesis has never been proven.

Both gloomy episodes in the history of the church were the inspiration for the creation of this spectacle.
