“TU” is a show about experiencing the world from a different perspective. About piercings, emotions, the need for regulation and the search for a safe place. It is a story especially close to neurotypical children and people with intellectual disabilities, but everyone who at least once felt that they were “not like this”, “not in time” or “not in their place” is invited to it.
You don't have to change to deserve a place in the world. It is the world that learns how to be close to it.
The performance is created as a project of the Education Department of the Tadeusz Różewicz Theatre, in cooperation with children and young people. Some of the project participants also become co-creators of the presented world, their voices, movement, presence and experiences are incorporated into the stage story.
“TU” is not a performance that tells the viewer how one should live. It is an invitation to see together if the world can make a little more room for each of us. Maybe a safe place is not something that needs to be found, maybe they can be created together?
The play “TU” was created as part of the project “Theater in the Reach”. The grant project is implemented as part of the project “Universal design of culture — accessibility in cultural institutions”, financed by the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 program, as part of Action 3.3 “Systemic improvement of accessibility” of Priority III “Accessibility and services for people with disabilities”.
The project is implemented by the National Cultural Center, and the partner is the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People. The total budget of the project is PLN 29,694,500, of which PLN 24,503,901.40 comes from European funds and PLN 5,190,598.60 from the state budget.
