Returning to Rome, Titus refuses to take the throne, but in the name of Roman custom he sentences to death the son of the captured queen of the Goths, Tamora. When Tamora becomes the wife of the new emperor, she responds with revenge aimed at Titus and his family. Since then, further acts of retaliation have fueled an increasingly violent chain of events.
The play places Shakespeare's drama in the context of contemporary politics and media. The decisions of individuals affect the lives of millions here, and violence becomes part of the public spectacle.
Marcin Liber also invited wrestlers to the cast. The staged combat, spectacularity and physicality of this discipline become part of the language of the play and reinforce the narrative of violence, power and revenge.
Powerful lighting effects, strobe light and loud music are used in the performance.
