The anguish of life

Jona and Leviwa Popochov are married with half a century of service. One night, Jon, a thick-skinned by nature, cannot sleep, so he wakes up his wife to tell her that he has decided to leave her. A sleepless night becomes a time of sincere and painful reckoning of an aging couple with each other, but also with their own lives: with transience, unfulfilled dreams, and with the inevitable and increasingly clear on the horizon. A lonely neighbor becomes a mirror for the heroes. Gunkl's visit makes Jonah and Levi wonder if, despite all the “torment of life” as a couple, it is not better than touching loneliness.

One of Hanoch Levin's best dramas is Michał Piotrowski, a theater and film director of the younger generation, director of the Fourth Stage Theater. He invited legendary artists of the Katowice scene: Bogumiła Murzyńska, Jerzy Głybin and Andrzej Warcaba to travel together through all the shades of love in “late adulthood”.

Ahead is an emotional journey through the dark corners of love, passing time, aspirations, expectations and life's disappointments. Are we really “all gunks” after all?
