Second one in the morning. Leviva sleeps deliciously, but Jonah, in anguish, rolls over from side to side. A marriage with many years of experience is aggravated by the narrowness of their life together. What froze their love? Why is it best for them to throw out each other's resentments? What does their neighbor say? Who of the three is the loneliest? And why does no one ask for the opinion of Ursus maritimus?
“The Torment of Life” directed by Eva Rysova is an existential tragicomedy about complex human relationships. An uncompromising and dirty, but also touching reflection on the human condition.
Hanoch Levin, author of the play, is the most important Israeli playwright of Polish origin. In 1935 his parents emigrated from Łódź to Palestine. Called the Israeli Beckett, in his work he criticized the actions of Israel, which caused numerous controversies.
The performance is created in connection with the 40th anniversary of the creative work of actor Niko Niakas on the Horzycy Theatre. Karina Krzywicka — celebrating 40 years of creative work this year, and Paweł Thórzelski — 38 years on stage will also perform on stage.
Jona Popoch: Niko Niakas, Lewiwa, his wife: Karina Krzywicka, Gunkiel, acquaintance: Paweł Tchórzelski
