Izadora Weiss ballet performance in two partsMusic: Ludwig van Beethoven, John Eccles, Giya Kancheli, Zoë Keating, Caroline Shaw, Karol Szymanowski, Dobrinka Tabakova, Shigeru Umebayashi, Antonio Vivaldi (recordings) Premiere: 11/06/2026, Polish National Ballet
Izadora Weiss's performance is her manifesto for women's independence and their right to choose their own path, even if it is controversial. According to the author, in the age of social media, where everything is created and becomes a delusion of truth, the need to defend one's identity becomes fundamental.
Two women, fictional character Roxana and iconic writer Virginia Woolf, embody human weaknesses and misguided choices in the pursuit of perfection in art and in life. Men, too, are experiencing an identity crisis, still succumbing to stereotypes that leave no room for any weakness or even vulnerability. We are all watched, we have the feeling of constant evaluation, testing our immunity. We are meant to be perfect, and this is a simple path to insensitivity and loneliness.
This original Izadora Weiss dance theater is full of passion and fleeting moments of happiness, but also real struggles in the modern world. It is to undertake a courageous dialogue with the viewer about the right to freedom and its limits.
