It was at the turn of 1985/86, one of Danish rock's biggest successes dissolved itself after dominating the Danish charts and venues for several years with a unique and fresh mix of Nordic tone and Caribbean rhythms.
Composed of a plumber, a music educator, two journalists, a postman, an eminent sound engineer and what the daily press called “a dark-skinned Barbados beauty,” carried the fusion music of the 70s into the 80s and produced six albums that were both complex, accessible and skinless. The life-affirming music went hand in hand with lyrics that, in a direct and nuanced language, described people's minds and relationships, both in love and on the job.
The sissy boys were much more than “Out under the open sky” and “Say you like me”. They had more talent than most of the '80s stage combined, and the three main actors — singer and lyricist Anne Dorte Michelsen, sound technician and composer Michael Bruun and the founder, composer and handyman Klaus Kjellerup — together steered the dramatic vessel that Tøsedrengene was.
