VIDEOSYNTHESIS 4

At the exhibition presented as part of the Festival of Audiovisual Forms INTERMEDIALE 2026 we will see audiovisual works in the form of video art and installations by leading artists creating in analog and hybrid techniques of image and sound production.

The Intermediale Festival reaches out to those areas of artistic creativity, where the visible and the audible become impossible to separate. Image and sound coexist in different genres of art. Traditional theatre, film and the visual arts, however, rely on the supplementary role of music, and music and literature are sometimes complemented by images as illustrations. With the development of new technologies for recording and processing of image and sound, a broadly understood audiovisual art emerged — an area in which sounds, noises, voices and images occur in mutually complementary relationships. The primary field of occurrence of this type of connection is experimental video and electronic and electroacoustic music.
