Chamber music is one of the most beautiful fruits of the musical culture of our world. Artists who play in small ensembles are united by a relationship that cannot be compared to any other. We will find out during a concert where two violinists — Wojciech Kołaczyk from Poland and Carola Fredes from Chile — will perform together intriguing works by Jean Daniel Barahona, Piotr Klimek and Przemysław Pujanek.
Carola Fredes is a violinist and lecturer at the University of Talca, while Wojciech Kołaczyk works at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. In recent years, the duo has already performed in this line-up, among others, during viola conferences in Poznań and Paris, and as part of the celebrations of the holiday on May 3 this year in Santiago, the capital of Chile. This extraordinary musical relationship is proof that today, as humanity, we belong to the so-called global village, whose bond is, among other things, a common understanding of art. According to Kołaczyk, chamber music is “the essence, the core of music. Perhaps this is where all music began”; it also teaches mindfulness for the other person, sensitivity to his aesthetics and interpretation, and perhaps even compromise.
These two artists sincerely committed to the described performance philosophy have chosen a repertoire through which they wish to show the bridges connecting the two cultures — despite the discontinuity of mutual contacts between their countries. Chile will represent a piece by Jean Daniel Barahona. Already in the title it refers to the native country of Fredes. On the other hand, the composition of Piotr Klimek Jare Goda, who works in Szczecin, refers to the pre-Christian spring festival, which was later absorbed by Easter. The evening will culminate with the work of Przemysław Pujanek — also a violinist, musician of the famous Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra. The intention of the Layers of his authorship, based on melodies collected by Kolberg in Volyn, was to illustrate the different stages of the composition. We will also hear a duet for two violas and the sounds of the crying of the sea in the distance — El mar llora a lo lejos.
