Violetta Villas | SILESIAN PREMIERE

We invite you to the Silesian premiere of the film “Violetty Villas” co-produced by the Silesia Film Institution — a long-awaited film about the life of one of the biggest Polish music divas. The guests of the event will be: director Karolina Bielawska, performer of the main role Sandra Drzymalska and producer Mariusz Włodarski.

The conversation after the session will be conducted by Ewa Nieska.

“Violetta Villas” is the story of the most famous Polish music diva in history, whose talent and passion brought to the biggest stages of Paris and Las Vegas, told from the perspective of her son — an involuntary witness to the birth and fall of a star. The director is Karolina Bielawska — author of the award-winning documentary “Mój mi Marianna”, honored with the Golden Horn at the Krakow Film Festival and awards in Locarno, Lisbon and St. Petersburg. The director was also nominated for the “Polityka” Passport. She is also a co-author of the script, which she created together with Małgorzata Gospodarek. Sandra Drzymalska's characterization is the work of Anne Cathrine Sauerberg and Thomas Foldberg, nominated for this year's Oscars for Best Makeup in the film “Ugly Sister”.

The film is a co-production of the Silesia Film Institution co-financed by the Silesian Film Fund. The film is the director's feature debut, and some of the shots were shot at the House of Music and Dance in Zabrze, in Ruda Śląska and in the Castle Museum in Pszczyna.

Event in the framework of the 80th anniversary of the Silesia Film Institution

Honorary patronage of the 80th anniversary of the Silesia Film Institution was taken by the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Wojciech Saluga and the Mayor of the City of Katowice Marcin Krupa.
