An idyll — waiting for the fish together. It is early in the morning. Two female anglers set out to indulge their passion. With the appropriate fishing equipment from the “Fishing King” brand and their many years of experience on the still and rough waters of the country, they might even be able to achieve their secret goal in life today: fishing a prehistoric fish from the deepest depths.
The two exchange ideas about fishing rods, eel thorn eyes and favorite baits. But also about mothers and grandmothers who have passed on their passion for fishing to their daughters for generations. An idyll — waiting for the fish together. Were it not for the lonely boathouse rental company with a great need for information, who is rushing fishing supervision on the faces of the anglers. Are illegal activities taking place here, such as the “catch and release” fishing practice? Or is it just the old song by an offended boathouse rental company who simply does not feel appreciated by the anglers?
A supposedly small, extremely harmless drama about fishing. A laconic text that, in its exhibited harmlessness, allows us to look into abysses. Gender roles are broken up playfully and with subtle humor. And by the way, the piece asks what forms female solidarity can have. An absurd play about waiting, hobbies, failure, slowing down, fishing and the “big catch.” Petri thanks!
“It's about characters that I myself longed for for years as an actress (and still have) and about scenes and processes that interest me on stage, that are dynamic, that make their players want to play by not seeing the lyrics as resistance, but coming to light up through them.” (Noëlle Häseling)
“What actually goes back and forth between women in a positive way, without conflict. Dynamic, funny, from real life.” (Statement by the Hans Gratzer jury)
